Issues in today's Church pt1

As you may or may not know I am a Christian. But I also do some Gaming (Clash of Clash, Boom Beach) and also work for a local apple orchard. So you add all those things and you don't get Superman you get me, you below average Christian. But don't put be into the stereotypical category of  a person who goes to church and then goes on with life. I am a very strong supporter of a classical approach to music. And so I have written a paper expressing by beliefs about this issue.

Dear reader,

What you are about to read is my interpretation of what the Bible says about issues that are becoming more and more prevalent in the modern church. This is partly because the people in the church are not studying for themselves, and partly because pastors are not showing their congregations what the Bible has to say. For this pamphlet I will try to show you what the Bible says about issues in our church. I also think many Christians have come to different conclusions about this.

To start off, the average Christian is not aware of the things that shape their lives. However there are two basic categories that shape a Christian’s thinking.

 First, there is the rapid advance of western culture which says that everyone’s opinion is equally valid, and that it should never be censored.

Second, there is the filter in every person made up of his former theological instruction and his own life experience. We must be careful of personal pride and prejudice when talking with others Christians and when reading the Bible. Here is a test that is designed to help you think critically when you read 1 Corinthians 8 and to show yourself to what extent you may have personal prejudice. (The following questions were gleaned from a sermon preached by Pastor Mark Minnick.)

1: Do you believe God’s Word ever changes? because in John 10:35 it says unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken and in Mathew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. As you see in these verses the Bible will not change.

2: Do you believe that all Scripture is breathed out by God and it is profitable for 4 things: in righteousness, doctrine, reproof, correction, and for instruction in righteousness?

3: Is it your conviction that as Paul says in Galatians, “It is an evil age that we live in”? Do you also believe that he who is a friend to the world is the enemy of God (James 4:4)?

4: Are you persuaded both by Scripture and by the thousands of personal sins you have committed that your flesh is no different than that of a unbeliever and in it, though you are a Christian, there is no good thing, and it is constantly waging an endless war against grace, which includes the endless intent to make every liberty given to you by Christ when you became a Christian into base for sinful activity?

5: Do you believe that we are always in a battle against spiritual forces of wickedness? Do you also think that they are fueling the lusts of our sinful flesh?

6: Do you accept that when an unbeliever who is a fashion designer sits down at his desk and starts working on the next year’s fashion, or when a lost person who writes movie scripts, or someone who composes secular music walk in the vanity of their minds and that they are darkened in their understanding and that they are excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance and because of the hardness of their hearts, and in some cases are past feeling because they have given themselves over to sensuality for the of all kinds of impurity (Eph4:17)?
